I wish upon the flowing stars That we can be under the same sky
The water and light touch the heavens
Believing in the unfulfilled pinky promise I wonder how many nights I've crossed In this hole that won't be filled The voice calling your name echoes Our diverging feelings are like the moon and the sun Still, the light is always connected
I want to see you, I want to see you No matter where you are, even if I can't see you, I remember It's like the moonlight piercing through a cloudy sky Because I felt the warmth of your body in the fragments of mild fever
Someday, illuminate the heart of the waning moon

Afterimages, flashes of light, shadows that draw arcs Just melting away the night that has become an illusion The sentimental wind echoes until the end I reach out for the moon that doesn't reach me Tears spilled from the warmth of that light
I want to see you, I want to see you No matter where you are, even if I can't see you, I remember Before the starry sky becomes a painting I want to find the shooting star that vanished Because I want to search for it with you someday
I want to see you, I want to see you The whispered words dance lightly Like a world swaying on the surface of the water Blurred in the fleeting
I want to see you, I want to see you No matter where you are, even if I can't see you, I remember It's like the moonlight piercing through a cloudy sky Because I felt the warmth of your body in the fragments of mild fever
Someday... Like the moon that tears through a lonely night Someday... Like the moon that guides invisible days...

It has been a decade since the Bakumatsu era, a time of conflict that witnessed the uprising of citizens against the oppressive Tokugawa shogunate. The revolutionaries aimed to establish a peaceful and prosperous country. While the new Meiji era has dawned, true peace remains elusive. Despite the ban on swords, senseless killings still plague the streets. War veterans' orphans find themselves abandoned, while the government appears focused on self-enrichment.
Amidst this backdrop, a wandering samurai named Kenshin Himura continues his quest to ensure that the ideals he fought for are worth the sacrifices made to usher in the new era. Once feared as the ruthless assassin Hitokiri Battousai, Kenshin is haunted by guilt and has vowed never to kill again, seeking redemption for the lives he took. However, true peace eludes him as long as violence persists.
In the 11th year of Meiji, Kenshin crosses paths with Kaoru Kamiya, the owner and chief instructor of a modest dojo on the brink of closure. The police are powerless against the series of murders committed in the name of her dojo, perpetrated by an individual claiming to be the infamous Battousai. Kenshin's wandering journey temporarily halts as he joins forces with Kaoru to clear their names. But the question remains: How long can he stay before his shadowed past catches up to him?
