Saenome have been assigned the important task of sealing spirits that possess objects and pose a threat to society. These spirits, known as tsukumogami, are typically non-violent, and saenome usually seal them through simple communication.
However, Hyouma Kunato, deeply scarred by a previous deadly encounter with a malevolent spirit, refuses to rely on peaceful methods and instead engages in physical confrontations with any tsukumogami he encounters. Recognizing this behavior as unsuitable for a future clan leader, Hyouma's grandfather, Zouhei, suggests a solution: Hyouma must live with Botan Nagatsuki, a young woman whose family consists of six tsukumogami, or else face excommunication.
Motivated by his desire to locate the spirit responsible for his profound loss, Hyouma reluctantly agrees to Zouhei's proposal. As unidentified groups of malevolent spirits begin to disrupt the delicate balance between realms, Hyouma must earn Botan's trust and overcome his animosity towards her enigmatic family.
