The renowned phenomenon of the "Seven Wonders," a fixture in many Japanese school legends, includes the haunting tale of Hanako-san, a spectral girl said to inhabit the school's restroom.
Within Kamome Academy, a variant of Hanako-san's legend persists. According to the whispers, anyone who successfully summons Hanako-san will be granted a wish. Despite numerous attempts, this ritual has proven futile. However, Nene Yashiro, seeking romantic fortunes, takes the gamble and attempts the summoning, only to discover that the fabled "girl" is, in fact, a boy!
Following a series of ill-fated events tied to Nene's romantic aspirations, she finds herself unintentionally drawn into the supernatural realm, assuming the role of Hanako-kun's assistant. In due course, she uncovers the lesser-known responsibility of Hanako-kun: preserving the delicate equilibrium between the human world and the world of apparitions.
