“Being a hero is a job for the lowest kind of scum.”
By the mid–21st century, Tokyo’s underworld has fallen under the control of mafia bosses who have undergone ether (magical power) enhancement surgery, transforming them into “Demon Kings.”
The bounty hunters who take down these Demon Kings are known as “Heroes.”
To fight them, Heroes boost their ether abilities using a drug called E3, and with their killings fully legalized, heroism has become a profession of sanctioned murder.
In this grim world, a freelance Hero known as “Shinigami” Yashiro suddenly finds himself visited by a self-proclaimed “disciple.”
She is Jogamine, a high school girl training to become a Hero.
Though reluctant, Yashiro takes her in—and soon finds himself dragged into a series of utterly disastrous incidents!
A scumbag “master” and his self-declared “disciple” collide in a full-throttle modern supernatural action story—the curtain rises!
