Born in a new world, Will awakens to the presence of three unique guardians: a skeleton, a ghost, and a mummy. These unlikely mentors, Blood, Gus, and Mary, raise Will as their own in the midst of a city's ancient ruins, teaching him essential life skills. Blood imparts combat knowledge, Gus nurtures his magical abilities, and Mary imparts religion and a sense of duty. Above all, they instill in him the essence of love.
As Will matures and acquaints himself with the unfamiliar world of his rebirth, he prepares for the inevitable day when he must venture out on his solitary path. For Will, this journey involves a solemn commitment. Upon reaching adulthood, every individual must swear an oath to a deity of their choice, and the sincerity of this pledge influences the extent of the deity's blessings.
With his departure approaching, Will must also confront the truth about his undead guardians and set forth into a world that remains shrouded in uncertainty. He soon realizes that every oath, in one way or another, must be fulfilled.
