In the year 202X, self-driving electric vehicles have replaced traditional internal combustion engine cars, becoming a common sight across Japan. However, amidst this trend, there's a racing circuit known as MFG that continues to gain global popularity, featuring classic internal combustion cars.
Kanata Livington, a 19-year-old Japanese-British racing enthusiast, completes his education at a prestigious racing school in the United Kingdom and arrives in Japan with two objectives: to compete in MFG and to uncover the whereabouts of his missing father, Ken Katagiri. Kanata finds lodging with the Saionji family, friends of his late mother, and enters the racing scene using his father's surname. He borrows a Toyota 86 from Ogata, a close friend of the Saionji family. Despite being outmatched in terms of specifications, Kanata impressively secures a spot in the top 15, even competing against high-end supercars, showcasing his extraordinary skills.
To his surprise, Kanata receives training from none other than Takumi Fujiwara, a legendary figure in downhill and rally racing. As MFG staff members familiar with Fujiwara and former racers from the same era take notice of Kanata, a fresh whirlwind of excitement begins to stir within the MFG racing scene.
