"What a worthless life it's been."

An elderly man named Akutsu, serving a life sentence, lies alone in his solitary prison cell, waiting for death.
But then — a voice calls out to him.
It's a balsam flower… one that can speak human language.

Through their “conversation,” Akutsu begins to reflect on the life he’s lived.

"I remember the day you all came... clear as yesterday."

Summer, 1987.
In a quiet seaside town, Akutsu — a small-time yakuza — starts a new life in a modest apartment where balsam flowers bloom in the garden.
Arranged by his senior, Tsutsumi, he shares the home with Nana, a woman six years his junior, and her newborn son, Kensuke.

From the porch, they can see great fireworks exploding over the sea.
The three of them lead a humble but peaceful life — one filled with warmth.

"Only those who burn their bridges behind them get the chance to turn it all around."

Eventually, Akutsu finds success in shady real estate schemes and begins living extravagantly, neglecting the small home he once cherished.

Then, one day, everything changes.
Faced with a sudden and desperate need for money, Akutsu and Tsutsumi hatch a plan —
to steal 300 million yen from their own gang’s vault.

This is the story of one man’s life.
A story of love, loss, and the choices that define us.
