Spring 2023 anime Oshi no Ko's opening song "Idol" by Yoasobi reached No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. Chart This is the first time in history that a Japanese-language song has achieved this!
The chart is based on downloads and streaming data from approximately 200 countries and regions around the world outside the United States. The song has been a hit, with more than 140 million YouTube views (as of June 6th), and ranked second in the Youtube Music Charts world song ranking.
It has topped the Billboard JAPAN Hot 100 song chart for seven consecutive weeks since its release in April of this year, the most in its career.
